Beyonce's 2023 Dubai Concert

So what is going on?

Beyoncé received $24 million last weekend for her performance at the Atlantis Royal's premium unofficial inauguration in Dubai, which was attended by only invited media, celebrities, and influencers. Given that she hasn't released the album's music videos, let alone announced the eagerly anticipated Renaissance tour, where ticket prices are predicted to be exorbitant, fans may be disappointed to see Beyoncé prioritize a private performance in Dubai for largely wealthy attendees. However, the regulations in the UAE that criminalize homosexuality and gender reassignment are what have sparked the most of the internet outrage.

Public Relations Point of View

Obviously, this situation has caused quite a bit of unexpected backlash. This situation is not something that Beyonce did out of harsh intent, but it has really caused a riot across the country. For years, Beyonce has shown her support for the LGBTQ+ community on several different occasions. She has also always been known to give back generously to her community. So how did things get flipped so easily? News reporters, journalists, and social media influencers all around the world have created this concert to be a "jab" at Beyonce's life long fans. As any public relations professional is aware, point of view, diction, and wording can all impact societies view on a particular person or scenario. Beyonce has not yet given a statement about this concert, but will definitely need public relations help to clear her name and intent. This is a great example of Public Relations because is shows how a regular story can easily be twisted and impact a person's name for an extedned amount of time, and what the celebrity has to do to clear these issues up.

What Effect?

Like stated above, this will definitley impact Beyonce's fan base. She will obviously still have plenty of money and listeners, but this is a sense of clearing her name morally. SInce this is quite a new situation, no PR precautions have been took yet. However, I am sure that things will be sorted out by Beyonce and her team. It is quite an urgent matter, so I would hope that this solution comes as soon as possible.
